A vignette in architectural design is thought of as a smaller study of something larger. No matter the size or simplicity of a space, it can evoke a specific mood or energy; which is where my other passion for yoga comes into play. Yoga works with the energy that radiates both inward and outward from the body. This is the same thing I strive to connect within a space. My practice in yoga and design is to cultivate this unfound energy and shift it into something beautiful, refreshed, and energetic.
Julie began her design career in Chicago. She interned with a residential designer and steel fabricator working on shop drawings for the CTA "L" stations. After graduating from Harrington she worked at a small architectural firm in the big city for five years then headed back to her home state - New Mexico. Transitioning to the largest firm in a smaller city, Julie was involved in a wide range of project types from the Albuquerque Convention Center to Casinos. Working in multiple markets from multifamily housing, commercial, hospitality, and government sectors.
With a passion for large-scale planning and change initiatives in 2018, Julie transitioned to strategic planning. To keep her toe in design she always has a design project in her mid-century modern home and has been helping friends with their projects.
Julie formalized her "side biz," AMV in 2021 to help others make their design dreams come to life. She is passionate about your project, whether that is one vignette or a full renovation, Julie wants to bring them to fruition for you.
Julie is a licensed interior designer in NM, LEED AP, E-RYT200 + RYT500, wife, and mom of two, who doesn't sleep much.
All design services can be tailored to your specific style and design requirements. Julie is formally trained in the interior world, but as a creative mind loves to dabble in all facets of design. She has a strong network and is active in the design community. A Modern Vignette focuses on color, pattern, and textures to refresh and design your project to create an energetic character that reflects the right environment for you.
Mies van der Rohe was known for the construct that “Form follows function.” AMV believes spaces can be functional while beautiful- it's about finding the right balance.
Let's create something together!
